The UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport has published responses from a long consultation on digital ID. In a press release, Data Minister Julia Lopez states that the government will introduce legislation to "ensure that there are trusted and secure ways for people and organisations to use digital identities, should they choose to". There is also a proposal to set up an office known as Office for Digital Identities and Attributes (ODIA) as an interim governing body for digital identities. Among the mandates of ODIA will be issuance of trustmarks to certified digital identity organisations, as well as oversight of trust-marked organisations to ensure their adherence to the highest standards of security and privacy.
