Lesotho's Ministry of Social Development has integrated mobile money for pension payments, to ease service delivery to elderly and disabled clients. The ministry will use two mobile money services- M-Pesa and EcoCash for the project. In a report by CAJNewsAfrica, Acting Minister of Social Development, Keketso Sello, stated that digital methods had been adopted for convenient access by groups such as the elderly. Mobile payments would also mitigate teh troubles they face in harsh weather conditions. Thousands of people in the country depend on pensions, making it important for the government to improve the means of disbursement of the funds.
