According to a news report, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram platforms are back online after a massive global outage disrupted the services for several hours. The outage affected several users and businesses who depend on the services of the platforms. It started around 11:00 am Eastern Time on Monday and was restored late Monday. Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg personally apologized to all users for the outage. An official communication from Facebook attributed the root cause of the outage to a 'faulty configuration change' and that there is 'no evidence that user data was compromised as a result' of the outage.
