EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen suggested that China was behind cyber-attacks against some hospitals in Europe during the COVID-19 pandemics, EurActive reports. At the conclusions of another EU-China summit, held online, von der Leyen 'pointed out' to Chinese counterparts Premier Li Keqiang and President Xi Jinping that such attacks, along with China's disinformation campaign in Europe, 'cannot be tolerated'. While von der Leyen hasn't disclosed evidence, she added that the EU has put together the necessary facts and the figures to know the origins of attacks. Officials of China's representation to the EU have denounced accusations, and asked the EU to provide evidence for the claim, Politico reports. Chinese officials also condemned cyber-attacks that may hinder the global response to the pandemics.
