The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) launched the Global South COVID-19 Digital Innovation Challenge to support identifying scalable innovative digital solutions to help the Global South handle the spillovers of COVID-19. It aims to build a network of champions in developing-country ecosystems to accelerate the response to the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, grasp the current innovation impetus and bring innovative digital solutions, leverage South-South cooperation, and provide open access to resources. Applications are open until 15 July 2021 to organisations that have an existing project or minimum viable product that promotes South-South cooperation, demonstrates a new innovative project/prototype and is a digital solution.
