Apple announced significant updates to its operating systems -iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS -at its annual developer conference WWDC 2023, from 5 to 9 June, emphasising privacy and security enhancements. These changes stand out as Apple's privacy and security advances, giving users more control over their digital experience.
Safari now protects against trackers and allows users to keep tabs open even when not near their devices. Communication safety now includes video material, with minors being warned against sharing or receiving unsuitable photographs and videos. Password upgrades allow users to establish a group to share passwords, while one-time verification codes received in Mail will automatically appear in Safari. Lockdown mode provides additional security against spyware, decreasing the attack surface. NameDrop is a new feature that allows users to share contact information and material between devices.
Users can see a live transcription while leaving a message on Live Voicemail, deciding to pick up a call easier. When Mute Unknown Callers is on, calls from unknown numbers are routed directly to live voicemail.
