According to the Guardian, Zoom, the US video conferencing company, has announced it will soon provide end-to-end encryption, but only to users who pay for it. Zoom CEO Eric Yuan, justified the decision to exclude free calls from end-to-end encryption by the need to open the possibility of working with law enforcement: 'Free users - for sure we don't want to give [them] that, because we also want to work together with the FBI, with local law enforcement, in case some people use Zoom for a bad purpose'. Zoom had previously falsely advertised its platform implemented end-to-end encryption.
