The World Bank has published a report titled 'Covid-19 and the future of work in Africa: Emerging Trends in Digital Technology Adoption' that explores the adoption of digital technologies in order to boost productivity. The study finds that Sub-Saharan companies increased the use of digital technologies in response to the Covid-19 pandemic with a rather notable growth in the e-commerce sector. According to the report, the platform Jumia saw an increase in transactions of more than 50 percent thus rising from 3.1 million to 4.7 million. The report also highlights the positive developments in the public and health sector as a result of digitalisation. That said, the overall uptake of digital technologies among African companies still remains low despite the proven benefits.
