The US Treasury successfully repelled a DDoS attack, a US Treasury official said on Tuesday.
According to Todd Conklin, cybersecurity adviser to deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo, the Treasury has attributed the DDoS attacks to Killnet, the pro-Russian hacker group that in October claimed responsibility for interfering with the websites of several US states and airports. 'Pretty low-level DDoS activity targeting Treasury's critical infrastructure nodes', was how Conklin described the attack on the Treasury.
The incident, which was unreported until now, took place a few days before similar attacks from Killnet on American financial services companies.
