According toReuters, two members of the US House of Representatives (one Democratic and one Republican) are to propose a draft legislation that 'would prevent any state or locality from mandating that a "manufacturer, developer, seller, or provider" design or alter the security of a product so it can be decrypted or surveilled by authorities'. Initiators are of the opinion that it is 'technologically unworkable' to have individual state legislation asking tech companies to introduce different encryption standards into their products.
