Uber backed down and promised to compensate drivers and delivery workers with coronavirus a few days after announcing that it would not pay any sick leave. The ride-hailing company will pay drivers and delivery workers who are under imposed quarantine by a public health authority for a period up to fourteen days. The measure is already implemented in some markets and might be expanded worldwide. The company did not provide details on how much the workers will be compensated. In markets where drivers and delivery workers are independent contractors, paid sick leave is not required by the law.
