The UK parliament has announced that it will block TikTok on all official devices and the wider network due to cybersecurity concerns. The ban came after both the Scottish and UK governments made a similar decision.
This decision follows the ban of the Chinese-owned app on government phones last week, and is in line with other countries such as the US, Canada, Belgium, and the European Commission, which have already banned the app from official devices.
The concerns stem from fears that user data from the app, owned by Chinese-based company ByteDance, could end up in the hands of the Chinese government. On the other hand, TikTok denied allegations and claimed it supports free speech and is independent of China's government.
