The Bill is titled ?The Cyber Crime, Security and Data Protection Bill? and was first drafted in 2016. According to Minister Monica Mutsvangwa the bill seeks to ?combat cybercrime and increase cybersecurity in order to build confidence and trust in the secure use of information communication technologies?. It should establish a Data security Center and Data Protection Authority responsible for the investigation of cybercrime and data breaches. Also, the bill covers penalties for fake news dissemination, as well as incitement to violence and cyberbullying.
The bill is awaiting debate in the Parliament.
