The Swiss Finance Ministry has confirmed that the websites of several Swiss federal authorities and state-owned companies were inaccessible on 12 June due to a cyberattack. According to the Swiss authorities, the attack was quickly detected, and measures were taken to make the websites and programs accessible again. NoName, a pro-Russian threat group that specializes in such attacks against Ukrainian and European organizations, claimed responsibility for this distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack.
This group also claimed a similar attack against the Swiss Parliament on 7 and 8 June. On 8 June, the Swiss government said it was investigating an attack on the Swiss software provider Xplain, connected to various government agencies. It is believed that the attack was launched by the Play ransomware group, suspected to be based in Russia.
