Stewardship of the IANA functions transitions to the global community

The IANA functions contract between ICANN and the US government is now expired. As ICANN explains, this marks the transition of the stewardship of the IANA functions from the US government to the global community. The expiration of the contract came after a judge in Texas denied a last minute application (filled by state attorneys general in Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nevada) for a restraining order that would have put the transition on hold.
