The Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) launched a mobile app, TraceTogether, to identify those who have been exposed to individuals tested positive for coronavirus. The app will work by exchanging Bluetooth signals between phones to detect other users within two meters range. The encounter records are stored in each phone with the app, and the data is encrypted. If a user is infected with the virus, they will be asked to give the health agency access to their data, including the list of encounters. In response to privacy and data security concerns, the GovTech posted a blog post to bust the myths around the app.
