North Korean-sponsored hackers known as the Lazarus group are linked to a new remote access Trojan, MagicRAT. Essentially, the malware is 'designed to achieve persistence by creating scheduled tasks on the affected systems and provides the attackers with a remote shell to execute arbitrary commands and carry out file operations'. The Lazarus group is known to be involved in numerous financially motivated espionage activities controlled by the North Korean government to meet their strategic objectives blocked by sanctions imposed on the country. Researchers claim that such an incident is yet another indication of the group's intent to build new malware and target organisations from all over the world.
