NITDA launches National Digital Literacy Framework

31 de julho de 2023 Hi-network.com

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has launched the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF) aiming to develop a national curriculum for digital literacy capacity building training. The NDLF aims to provide standardized digital education and skills training in Nigeria, ensuring equitable access to digital literacy for everyone.

The digital director of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, outlined the objectives of the framework, which are:

  • universal access to the digital sphere,
  • enhancement of skill development, and
  • ensure inclusive participation.

Inuwa also emphasised the importance of enhancing digital literacy for both consumers and developers to build digital services. He also announced future efforts and commitments from NITDA to work on developing a digital talent strategy to be part of the global value chain.

Why does it matter?Essentially, the NDLf creation is seen as a critical step towards empowering citizens and fostering socio-economic growth. Considering the lack of access and the limited opportunities to acquire digital literacies, the launch of NDLF aims to bridge this divide and provide standardised digital education for everyone. It is believed that this would strengthen Nigeria's economy, reduce unemployment, increase productivity, and enhance the country's investment.
