As part of the Smart Villages for Rural Growth and Digital Inclusion (PVI) Project, Niger is expected to accelerate its agriculture and farming methods through the use of digital technology. In order to do so, Niger is aiming to connect to the Internet over 2000 villages and assist an estimated 1.5 million producers. The project will be piloted by the National Agency for the Information Society and is expected to cost USD 107 million over a period of 6 years. The initiative is part of a wider approach that aims to reduce the digital divide in Niger and connect individuals in remote and rural areas.
