After discussion with European officials, Netflix has committed to reducing the video quality by using a lower bitrate on its streaming service for 30 days in Europe as well as the UK. The lower picture quality is expected to reduce the effective data consumption for the service by 25% and will lessen the demand on European internet service providers' networks. As a large number of persons in Europe are self-isolating due to the coronavirus pandemic, the demand for Netflix's streaming service has increased. Movies will remain in high-definition or ultra-high definition 4K and those customers who pay for ultra-high definition 4K movies in their subscription will be able to view 4K films.
