European Parliaments' Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee voted in favour of the revised Radio Equipment Directive to make a single charger for mobile devices mandatory.
According to the new rules, consumers would no longer need a new charger and cable every time they purchase a new device, and can use a single charger for all electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones and headsets, etc. These devices would have to be equipped with a USB Type-C port, regardless of the manufacturer, except for smaller devices such as smart watches, health trackers and the like.
