According to a report by Netblocks, the Internet monitoring organisation, Guinea is experiencing a disruption to its Internet ahead of the announcement of the results for the Presidential elections that took place in the country this week. Live network data confirmed that as of 7:30 a.m UTC Friday 23 October 2020, connectivity on leading operator Orange was just at 9% of ordinary levels. According to the report there are indications of similar disruptions on other networks showing the severity of outage to be on a national scale. The report further suggests that if the outage persists, it is likely to significantly limit access and flow of information both domestically and internationally thereby leading to a lack of transparency in the democratic process.
