According to a news report, Iran lost 25% of Its Internet access on 8 February following a cyber attack on the country's infrastructure. The outage which was attributed to a shutdown of the Internet by Iranian authorities lasted some 7 hours before coming back to normal levels.
Netblocks, the global NGO, that monitored Internet connectivity in Iran, attributed the shutdown to be as part of effort by Iranian authorities to contain the DDoS cyber attack which led to the activation of the "Digital Fortress" cyber defence mechanism known as DZHAFA.
