The High Court in Gauhati, India, has admitted a petition by a father-son duo seeking to have their fingerprints unlocked to allow them to register for Aadhar. Their fingerprints were locked during processes for developing a national register of citizens. As a result, they are unable to apply for Aadhar and attendant services, despite being Indian citizens by birth.
According to an article by Hindustan Times, there are about 2.7 million applicants who were locked out of Aadhar pending verification of their details on the National Citizens Register.
