On the margins of the BRICS Summit taking place in Goa, India and Russia have signed a bilateral cybersecurity agreement covering cybercrime cooperation but also maters of combating cyber-terrorism and protecting the critical infrastructure, as well as the defense and national security cooperation. After the 'Framework for the U.S.-India Cyber Relationship' that Indian Prime Minister Modi and the US President Obama agreed to finalise in June this year, India will become the only major power to have established formal cybersecurity frameworks with both Russia and the US. Experts underline that, unlike the framework with the US, the deal with Russia is in form of a formal agreement; yet it is expected that it will not impact India's position in favor of a multistakeholder approach to Internet governance, but will strengthen ties with Russia in field of cybersecurity.
