During a virtual summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Finnish counterpart Sanna Marin unveiled a digital partnership to promote research and development of 6G mobile technologies, quantum computing, and digital transformation of teaching. In a joint statement, both prime ministers recognised the digital sphere as one of the most promising sectors for an intensive India-Finland partnership on information and communications technology (ICT) with a special focus on quantum technologies and computing. The statement further highlighted the plan of both sides to sign a renewed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between a consortium of ten Finnish universities and 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for cooperation in the higher education sector.
