According to the Global E-waste Monitor 2020, over the past 5 years global electronic waste (e-waste) grew by 21%. The report underscores that in 2019, an estimated 53.6 million tons of e-waste were produced worldwide and predicts that by 2030 some 74 million tons of e-waste will be generated which is the double of what was produced 16 years ago.The report also provides an overview of e-waste legislation and transboundary movement and underscores that in 2019, 78 countries were covered by legislation, regulation, and e-waste policies.
