The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) published a new report that explores the opportunities and challenges that policymakers and development partners have to promote the frontiers of inclusive innovation. The analysis provided in the report hinges on the experience of the ESCAP and on the insights of stakeholders engaged in this work. The report argues that when inclusion is the next frontier of technology, science, technology, and information (STI) policies should be designed differently with broader objectives than just economic growth, with social development and sustainable economies in mind. The report further looks at how the different dimensions of inclusivity are addressed in several innovation policies including national STI policies, digital economy strategies, initiatives supporting grassroots innovations, and policies promoting inclusive business.
