France advocates for global AI regulation

jun, 14, 2023 Hi-network.com

France is advocating for global-scale regulations for AI to be established by the end of 2023. French President Macron proposed that platforms such as the G7 and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) would be good platforms to suit this purpose.

The growing interest in AI has prompted governments worldwide to discuss the necessity of AI regulation. Still, there is no consensus on how AI should be governed, as other countries, such as the US, China, and the EU, are taking different approaches.

France aims to position itself as a hub for AI development and work alongside the EU's groundbreaking AI Act while advocating for global regulations. France also intends to collaborate with the United States in developing rules and guidelines for AI.

French politicians emphasize the importance of ensuring safety, minimizing biases, and promoting transparency in AI systems, all while encouraging flexibility to foster innovation. The European Parliament on Wednesday approved the AI landmark law, which looks to take a risk-based approach to regulating AI.
