The EU Commission has released the study 'Greening the Creative Europe programme' on how to make its Creative Europe program more environmentally friendly. The study recommends ensuring the program supports the EU's climate change objectives and promotes sustainability.
It includes three key documents: the Good Environmental Practices Guide, which offers strategies to reduce environmental impact and promote climate awareness; the Creative Europe Program Greening Strategy, which suggests steps to make the program greener; and the Creative Europe Monitoring Guide for Program Greening, which proposes indicators to measure progress and contribution to the European Green Deal.
Regarding funding opportunities in the audiovisual sector through Creative Europe's MEDIA strand, most of them already require green strategies and a carbon emissions calculator for audiovisual productions is being prepared.
The study is in line with the EU's commitment to becoming climate neutral by 2050 and recognises the importance of integrating the cultural and creative sectors into the green transition.
