According to a news report, Ericsson and UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) have announced a partnership that will see the two organisations working together to map school connectivity in 35 countries by the end of 2023. The joint effort, which forms part of the Giga initiative, is a critical first step in order to provide each child with access to digital learning opportunities. Under the initiative, Ericsson will not only assist with funding, but will also leverage its data science and data engineering capacity to gather critical data to help accelerate the school connectivity mapping. The data gathered will enable governments and the private sector to design and deploy effective digital tools that will enable learning among young people across the globe.
