The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United States Department of State, through its Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, have partnered to help close the gender digital divide by 2030. This work will mainly be done through two global programs Providing Opportunities for Women's Economic Rise (POWER) and EQUALS. This partnership aims to transform women's digital economic empowerment through advocacy, skills development, and promoting career advancement. POWER and EQUALS will also work with the private sector to improve opportunities and activities for women around the world in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. Activities on local and regional level will include advocacy and awareness raising events, webinars, meetings with different stakeholders including ICT leaders, regulators, and entrepreneurs , and a train-the-trainer program. Special emphasis will be on connecting women entrepreneurs in tech and innovation with a private sector through a series of roundtables.
