The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) released a new book on the Competition and Consumer Protection Policies for Inclusive Development in the Digital Era. The research was conducted by the UNCTAD Research Partnership Platform (RPP) with a special focus on issues of competition and consumer protection that are flagging out in the digital economy and how to address them. The book showcases individual country perspectives on addressing some of the challenges emanating from digital businesses by highlighting the experience of South Africa and Brazil. The UNCTAD advises against a 'one size fits all' solution that all countries can effectively apply since competition regulations should be carefully curated.
