Chinese institute Purple Mountain Laboratories announced it has made a breakthrough in next-generation mobile communication technology: it achieved sixth generation 6G-level wireless transmission capable of going up to a speed of 206.25 GB per second. It is reported that the 6G-focused project was supported by the Chinese government and it involves collaboration with China Mobile and the Fudan University. The speed achieved -10-20 times higher than that achieved in 5G networks -was described as a world record for real-time wireless transmission within the terahertz frequency band around 300GHz to 3THz, considered to be the essential for future 6G mobile communications.
