The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China has announced that the number of 5G base stations in the country exceeded 2.64 million in March 2023, with coverage in all counties. The MIIT also reported 620 million 5G cellphone users in China by the same period.
Previously in March, Jin Zhuanglong, the minister of industry and information technology, revealed that China is aiming to increase the number of 5G base stations by 600,000 this year to reach 2.9 million by the end of 2023. In line with China's 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the country is promoting the adoption of 5G among users and emphasizing its industrial application, especially in manufacturing. Over 10,000 5G factories are planned to be built during this period, which is expected to significantly boost the country's economy and technological development.
