According to a Reuters report, Brazil's government will not bar Huawei from the country's 5G network auctions that are scheduled for June 2021. President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro previously opposed Huawei's involvement in 5G networks in the country on the grounds that the company shares confidential data with the Chinese government. A local Brazilian newspaper, Estado de S. Paulo, quoted Vice President Hamilton Mourao as commenting that all telecom companies that provide necessary guarantees on respecting Brazil's sovereignty and data protection will be allowed to supply 5G equipment in the country.
