Bill Gates and PM Modi met in India to discuss AI for the common good

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, visited India, where he engaged in discussions on various critical topics with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and key ministers. The duo explored the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to serve the public good, women-led development, and innovations in agriculture, health, and climate adaptation.

Gates had a packed agenda during his visit, which included discussions with Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on enhancing healthcare through digital innovations and affordable diagnostics. They emphasized the shared goal of combating diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), sickle cell, and maternal anaemia through leveraging Indian research and technology.

Gates also met with other ministers such as Hardeep Singh Puri and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, as well as entrepreneurs like Zomato's Deepinder Goyal. The focus of these meetings was to explore ongoing partnerships and potential collaborations. Gates highlighted India's growth story as an example of collective effort and cross-sectoral cooperation in addressing global challenges.

In addition, Gates had a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, during which they discussed India's G20 Presidency and broader issues such as digital public infrastructure, health, education, and women's economic empowerment.
