Five automaker companies Honda, Renault, BMW, General Motors, and Ford Motors are joining forces to pilot a blockchain based ID and payment process for autonomous vehicles. Developing this invention will enable autonomous cars to receive a unique ID and the digital history of the vehicle. Vehicles will also be able to pay for tolls and make other payments automatically. All of that would be recorded in a unique digital ledger. The idea is developed in a 'mobility open blockchain initiative' project for electric vehicles (EVs) and the smart use of power grids.
