A research undertaken by eSafety Commissioner in Australia to identify the risks faced by children online found that six out of ten children were exposed to harmful content online (such as violent sexual material, self harm and unhealthy eating, etc.) but are reluctant to discuss them with their parents. The significant gap of awareness among parents of the risks faced by children online, parents underestimating the prevalence of children having a negative online experience online and lack of understanding of digital parenting practises were highlighted in the report.
