The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has introduced new broadband labels, modelled after the nutritional facts label found on food products. According to the FCC 'consumers need an easy way to understand provider prices, performance, and network practices.' The FCC requires broadband and mobile providers to produce the information in 'a simple-to-understand format that would enable consumers to compare services of different broadband providers.' The labels reflect the transparency requirements that are part of the FCC's net neutrality order.
