The US White House Office of Science and Technology Policy has established the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Office to oversee and implement the national artificial intelligence (AI) strategy. The Office will serve as the central hub for federal coordination and collaboration in AI research and policymaking across the government, and with the private sector, academia, and other stakeholders. The new body -established in line with the National AI Initiative Act of 2020 (passed in early January 2021 as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2021) -is also intended to accelerate governmental efforts to ensure US leadership in AI.
