Turkey's Ministry of Family and Social Services released a strong warning to parents, calling on them to keep children from spending time on digital platforms unsupervised. The Ministry has stressed that children under three should be kept entirely away from screens.
The Ministry has also implemented 'Digital Risk Protection and Privacy Training' programs to promote parental awareness, specifically aimed at protecting children from the dangers of the digital age. A total of 35,550 people have taken part in these training sessions, including how to create a safe digital environment for their children, as well as the prevention of potential dangers in connection with the disclosure of personal information and sensitive images of children on digital platforms, which can be the basis for exploitative actions.
The Turkish Ministry has highlighted the potential dangers of using unrestricted digital platforms, stressing that unintended exposure to such media can lead to adverse outcomes for children. Rather than engaging children in passive screen time, mobile devices are crucial to engaging children in secure ways that foster their creativity and imagination.
