The Turkish parliament haspassed a bill that will allow the country's radio and television watchdog to supervise online video content. The measure, which has been widely criticised by rights groups, is meant to close a loophole that was used by Turkish media to move to online platforms to avoid censorship. The bill requires broadcasters that intend to stream content to be licensed with a government agency, which will be authorised to report unlicensed shows to a criminal court.
