Trump administration in favour of online sales tax

According to the Trump administration, US statesshould be able to collect online sales taxes, supporting an appeal by South Dakota in a case currently considered by the US Supreme Court. The US Department of Justice claims that current e-commerce regulation, which requires a company's physical presence in a state to tax it, no longer suits today's e-commerce environment. The US Government Accountability Office estimates that states and local governments could gain USD 8-13 billion in annual revenue by collecting sales tax from online retailers.
