A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court of India asking the court to give directions to authorities of Jammu and Kashmir for restoring 4G Internet in the Union Territory (UT) in the wake of COVID-19.
According to reports, the plea was filed by the Foundation for Media Professionals and argued that the earlier decision of the UT administration to restrict Internet connections only to 2G was 'violative of Articles 14 (right to equality), 19 (freedom of speech) and 21 (right to life) of the Constitution'.
The group further argued that the advent of the COVID-19 global pandemic has made it imperative for citizens to have the fastest possible connection as to allow access to critical Information that can help curtail the spread of the Coronavirus.
