The Italian regulator Garante, has initiated formal proceedings against TikTok over violating privacy, especially of minors. In a statement Garante has mentioned that their investigation found that TikTok's ban on enrolment to people under 13 is easily circumvented and that information for users is too generic and not specific enough for children.
TikTok is also accused of not having clarity over the duration and objective of data retention, methods of anonymization used, as well as what happens to data that is sent to non-EU countries.
TikTok has 30 days to make their submission and ask to be heard.
