The international e-waste day, which takes place on 14 October, aims to raise global awareness of piles of discarded electronics and encourage consumers and producers to recycle their e-waste.
The WEEE Forum reports that an estimated 57.4 million tonnes of electronic waste will be discarded this year, outweighing the Great Wall of China, the world's heaviest artificial object.
This year's e-waste day focuses on making circularity a reality for e-products. Households, businesses and governments worldwide are encouraged to join the efforts to recover valuable materials from e-waste and reduce the need for new resources by getting plug-in or battery-operated products to facilities where they will be repaired or recycled.
