Fitbit Inc. announced the start of a study to test whether their wearable devices can detect heart rhythm irregularity. The Fitbit Heart Study is part of the company's strategy to make tools that are easy to use and can improve accessibility of the detection of diverse conditions. The study will generate data for regulatory submissions to authorities around the world to gain approval for its detection algorithm. The study is open to individuals in the USA who are 22 years old or older and own Fitbit devices that can record heart rates. Enrolled users will be allowed to test it in order for Fitbit to request regulatory review.
