According to the New York Times, Facebook has been given an ultimatum by Colombia to implement 'useful and effective new security measures to prevent unauthorized or fraudulent use of personal data'. For Colombia Reports, Facebook is asked to comply with a 2012 law that obliges private companies to guarantee "the technical, human and administrative measures necessary to secure the records against the unauthorized or fraudulent use, tampering, loss, consultation, use or access". The Superintendency of Industry and Commerce of Colombia has requested Facebook to certify new security improvements through an external audit firm. Facebook has until June 14 to implement new security measures. This announcement follows others lodged against Facebook in Canada, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Holland, Ireland and New Zealand.
