To protect children online, Cambodia has launched its first five-year action plan (2021-2025) to address online child sexual exploitation (OCSE).The estimated cost of the five year action plan is more than US$3.8 million, of which 36 per cent would be contributed by the government and balance 64 per cent will be contributed by development partners.

Speaking at the launch of the plan the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Kheng shared that owing to the reliance on technology amid the pandemic, children are spending more time online, as a result it is important to protect children and youth from the negative consequences of technology including sexual exploitation online. The Deputy Minister shared that while there are no official data on the extent on child exploitation online in Cambodia, however reports from authorities, hotlines indicate a rise in child sexaul abuse material, child pornography and sextortion.
